What The Deaf Man Heard

In 1945, a young boy arrives in a small Georgia town on a bus from which his Mother was abducted and murdered. Alone he sits quietly and everyone becomes convinced that he was deaf and mute. Deciding that silence offered some power and protection, the boy decides to remain mute and just listens to all that is being said around him by people who thinks that he cannot hear. Taken in by the bus depot manager and the cafe owner, the boy lives in the town and 26 years later has become the town handyman. However, he learns that the town leader, a bully, is embezzling church funds and is forced to speak out against him in a court trial.
